Remember when...

20 January 2012

So...my new Friday link up Lauren had her baby and caught me off guard! No Fill in the blank Friday today, but it's obviously for a good reason.

Remember when:

-We complained we were in school, but we got tons of breaks off {Spring Break, Christmas, Easter, Fall...} and got out at 2:30pm?

-Remember getting to wear the new fancy dress or shirt and tie that mom got for you on Easter Day for the big church service?

-We loved going to the mail box, but now it's a chore and a bunk of junk you have to rip up and throw away or inconveniently take to work, just so you can put it in the shredder?

-You could eat anything and everything in sight and not have to worry about your skin being dry, bloating, gaining a few extra pounds, or being dehydrated from it?

-The biggest and most stressful part of the day was remembering to call shot gun as soon as you wake up so your annoying brother wouldn't get it for the 10th time in a row?

-Remember being happiest when you wake up from your nap, put a pacifier in your mouth and go play?

-You could be naked, and chubby.... and still be sooooo adorable?

-We only had to be up long enough to eat cereal, get dressed, brush our hair and teeth and get to the car?

-We would complain about taking naps because all we wanted to do was stay up to be cranky to our parents and give them headaches?

-Mom and dad would buy and pick out all of your clothes and you didn't care about anything as long as you had those new pair of shoes for the first day?

-All you had to do for a vacation was throw on your shorts, a tee shirt, flip flops and hop in the car with a pillow and your favorite stuffed animal.

-Mom would give you a bath, cook your dinner, and all you did was watch movies and play with your toys and games...and sometimes that annoying brother?

-Life was so simple when you were younger that your prayer was a few short rhymes to thank God and bless the food.

-That same annoying brother would find really cool reptiles and dad would put together a cage for them to live in, big enough for us to fit in?

Sometimes I feel like the world is so wrapped up in everything. I feel like my Facebook newsfeed is nothing but people complaining about their 'awful' life they have. When really I want to say ...that's what's bad about your day? Think about how things could be 10 times worse and be blessed that you have that simple problem you are griping about.

Instead of thinking about the negative let's think about the positive. Life is short. Pray hard. That's what came across my Faith Notes today. It's so true.

There is a verse in the bible that can help you with any problem you have. Here are a few of my go to's that I keep in my planner.

Worried? 'Cast on your problems on the Lord and he will sustain them.' Psalm 55:22

Broken Heart? 'The Lord is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.' Psalm 34:18

Caught up with the ways of the world? 'Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.' Romans 12:2

Think God is ignoring you? 'For you bless the godly, Lord; you surround them with your shield of love.' Psalm 5:12

Lonely? 'For I am the LORD your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.' Isaiah 41:13

Struggling with temptation? 'The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure." 1 Corinthians 10:13

Not sure what's gonna happen next? 'For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.' Jeremiah 29:11

Impatient: 'The Lord himseslf will fight for you, just stay calm.' Exodus 14:14
