Operation Serve 2013

Operation Serve 2013 blessed my life in a way that I will be forever grateful for. Op Serve is something that our church does once a year to reach out to the community to do tons of different tasks. There is everything from extreme home makeovers, to block parties for kids, singing at a nursing home, etc. This year my family and some of our closest friends picked an extreme home makeover!

God. He is so funny these days. I love the way he makes everything happen for specific reasons. Because of the way certain things fell, a friend of mine discovered a house that needed some help where a sweet family of four live. We {20+ volunteers} took on the house as a project to fix up! Some contractors came in to do some work and then, we-volunteers helped by lending our hands to serve anywhere and any way we could.

Just to name a few things that was done to the house:

-New roof

-Central heat & air units installed

-New front deck

-Enclosed stairs off the back of the house to access the downstairs

-Painted & brought the bathroom back to life

-Finished off the basement

-Painted a shed & the gutters

-Did some landscaping.

-Etc, Etc, Etc.

Instead of telling all we did, let me share with you a bit of what we did...

One of my sweet friends that I went to high school with signed up to join in on the fun. We had such a good time serving God and our community together!

Usually I paint some faces and help kids make bracelets at the block parties. But this year, since I knew the couple who's house we did the makeover at, I chose to do this. It's true what they say... Once you do an extreme home makeover, you can't go back!
