Every Christmas we have a yearly traditions, as every family does. I'm so excited as the Christmas rush has begun! Even though, it always fly's by, it's still one of my favorite times of the year! Thinking back on Christmas Traditions from when I was little is so fun. Remembering how thrilled I was to wake up, run and scream and wake everyone else up, and wait for mom to set up the video camera, and have it playing so when we walked into the living room bug eyed and jaw dropped it caught every sweet moment. Oh, those were the days!
Although the traditions haven't changed too much... I'm definitely doing things a little different now that I'm off on my own, married, and have my own little family!
Each year is a little bit different and I'm excited for several different things this year:
-Brandon is home. <3
-My brother and his girlfriend, who live in Daytona Fl, are here visiting. I'm so glad they were able to come in!
-This year is our first Christmas in our home. A home that is completely ours. Signed, sealed, and we live in it!
-Both sides of my grandparents are still here with us. I'm so blessed that me being 24, I still have them to celebrate the holidays with.
-Brandon and I have been able to give this year. We've given back to the community through food drives, given to people who are not as fortunate as us and to the church and it feels so good to be able to give back!
Our Traditions:
The Sunday before Christmas we always do Christmas with my dad's side of the family. We have a big fattening good ol' southern Christmas Dinner spread! I'm talking green beans, mashed potatoes, turkey and gravy. All of it. When we were younger, we would always do a gift exchange, but now that all the kids are grown we just sit out!
Christmas Eve. Depending the day it falls on, some of us have to work. This year my work is open half day, but it looks like I will be working from 8:00-10:00ish. So, not too bad! Thankful for a half-half day! After work we go to Christmas Church Service. I love to worship on this very special day. After Christmas church service, we have Christmas with our little family! My dad, mom, brother, and his girlfriend, my sister, and her husband and daughter, and Brandon and I. We always do finger foods and dessert. {Always way too much}, but that's how we like it! We draw names and get a nice gift. But, we also do white elephant dirty santa gift exchange! That gets pretty interesting. And so funny! Later that night before bed Brandon and I always open up Christmas PJs that we get each other!
Last years's {way too much} Christmas Eve spread
This year I am planning on making 2 desserts and 1 finger food. I've been thinking about my menu for a few weeks now and I finally figured out the perfect things to make!
Mini Mexican Pizzas
Peanut Butter Ritz White Chocolate Fudge
White Chocolate Peppermint M&M Cookies
Christmas Day. So excited! I know I will get zero rest on Christmas Eve. Yeap, just like when I was five. I love it. Not only am I so excited for the santa, I am so excited for the gifts santa is bringing Brandon. I love doing anything that puts a smile on that mans face. A present, is like a secret. And I love secrets. So, technically right now, there are tons of secret for Brandon under the tree. Exciting! Christmas morning we will get up and exchange gifts and have our little family Christmas. Then we get ready and go over to mom and dad's for some awesome pinterest french toast casserole and one of my favorite things about Christmas morning... Dad's biscuit and gravy. Mouthwatering. I'm such a fat kid. I love it! Before breakfast we have our Christmas with mom, dad, my brother and his girlfriend, and Brandon and I. We exchange gifts and then dig in to the delicious breakfast! After breakfast we lounge around and then go out and spend the rest of the day with my mom's side of the family. Giant southern Christmas spread and gift exchange. And that pretty much sums up our Christmas Traditions!
