Baby Forbes Number 2 / How we found out + How we told our family!

On October 20th I took a pregnancy test and it popped up positive. Staring at it, it was a little faded. My heart started racing and I began thinking.. oh no. This is not a good time. I'm not ready, we're not ready, my life is already crazy how am I going to add a new baby now! I brushed off the negative chatter in my mind, because I knew that ultimately it was just the devil trying to attack and steal the joy of this precious gift from God. Brandon was upstairs working and Bennett was down for a nap, so I took the test up and laid it on the coffee table. Brandon looked at it. Looked at me like a deer in the headlights and got a huge grin on his face. We were definitely both extremely excited. 

Several weeks before that day Brandon and I had began praying and talking about expanding our family. We felt like it was the right time. Perfect age gap for Bennett, he will be at a good age to be a big brother, etc. After getting negative test after negative test, but showing all signs of being pregnant I had made up my mind that God was just telling us that now isn't the right time and that maybe in a few months we could try again. Then two days later I took the test that showed the fuzzy + sign.

That afternoon I took another test. It was positive, but still blurry. Brandon went to the store and got another box of tests that were a different brand. I took 1 and it showed a +. Then I took the last one and that sucker blinked the word YES! After we saw that... we were like well, after 4 tests I'd say we are pregnant!



We bought Bennett a BIG BRO t-shirt and that's how we told our closest family members. We took Bennett to my mom & dads in that shirt and we told them, 'you guys have got to see this new thing Bennett can do!' We put him in the middle of the floor, took off his jacket, and started saying, 'Be a big brother! Be a big brother!' My mom jumped up, grabbed Bennett and started singing, 'Bennett's gonna be a big brooother! Bennett's gonna be a big brother!' While my dad just sat there with his chin on the floor saying, 'What? .... What? .... Are you pregnant?'

We tried to Facetime Brandon's mom but you gotta love technology. So we sent her this picture and said, 'Look at this cool new thing Bennett is doing!'

She stared at it and was like, 'What's he doing?' Obviously trying to see his new trick when he is just standing there smiling... Hahaha And we said, 'Read the shirt!!!!' Then she started crying with excitement!

Mom and I went to look with my sister, Stephanie to tell her. We brought Bennett in wearing his shirt and mom just handed him to her. She finally said, 'Oh look at this shirt!' And then her jaw dropped and stared at me and then looked at mom and we started giggling!!

We told my brother, Michael and his wife Kristina on Tango. They were actually on the way to a cookout but I was pestering him that he HAD to see Bennett's new trick. So we sat Bennett in front of the phone and said, 'Be a big brother!!' And they giggled 'ohhhh man' and screamed congratulations!

For our grandparents and Brandon's out of town family we called and told them that Bennett is going to be a big brother. We could hear all of their smiles through the phone.

And Bennett and I went to lunch with some of my closest girlfriends and were able to tell them all in person!
