Patience

03 March 2011

Ever had one of those days where nothing seems to go your way? Try a whole WEEK! God is testing my patience this week. Not only mine, but all of my loved ones as well. This has been a long, exhausting, bad-news-filled week!

It started out Monday with a scare with dad. Here is a piece of an email mom had sent out about what happened...

'Mike had what appeared to be a seizure Monday night and I took him to the ER. He was admitted and after a battery of tests the neurologist diagnosed him with Cough-Syncope. Yes, there is such a condition. It is due to the result of severe coughing causing his heart rate to drop so low that it limits the blood flow to his brain. This then results in a near-or in his case-complete black out. His coughing is even worse than normal now due to bronchitis as a result of a nasty bug making it's round in our household. so, the first course of treatment for this condition is to recognize and eliminate the triggers of the coughing.'

So, with that being said dad is fine. Just exhausted and a little shaken up from all of it, as we all are. The last thing you want to see is a family member laying in a hospital bed. Talk about a kick in the stomach.

Tuesday wasn't a fun day either. Everyone knows my immune system isn't exactly the strongest thing around... There has been a mean bug floating around the Sheppard household. Mom started it!!! I managed to bypass it and not catch it. Then Michael got it, then dad got it, then it hit me about 2:00 Tuesday afternoon. Earache, headache, body ache, fever, you name it, it hurt! To add to the not so good day, I found out that Brandon's flight home had been delayed 24 hours. BUMMER! Gotta love the Army.

Wednesday woke up, SICK. Had a fever, stayed home and rested on the couch all day. Dad got home around 9:00 that morning, so it was great to have him home! Come about 5:00 that day...more bad news. Another 24 hour delay. So, our trip to Nashville is off, having a three day weekend together is off, and all of the other plans we had made...cancelled. Buuuuhmmer! Blech.

This morning someone was dying to have some oatmeal and eggs...sometimes he's too cute and I give in, but not this morning! Sorry Simba :)

Needless to say this has been a l-o-n-g week. Long and drawn out. Not sure what the reasoning is behind some of the things that has happened, but I know that God has some type of plan. I never doubt him. I may get frustrated and upset and wonder why...but wondering is all I do. Never do I question. I just whip off the tears, throw on my smile, and move on with the day. Who likes to see a frown anyways? The devil is no match for me. He can get me down, but I'm gonna get right back up.

Besides I have a honeymoon in Jamaica that I just paid off today! Got something amazing to look forward to! 72 days and I'll be laying on the beach next to my husband.
