Our Story

I've never shared our 'How We Met' story, so here goes..

far far away was a princess living in the south playing bare foot in the streets and growing up right under her parents wings. About 12 hours not so far away was a prince living on the beach and growing up surfing in the ocean!

Fast Forward

In January 2010 my friend Paulina mentioned that her boyfriend, Brandon {at the time} had a roommate, named Brandon that would be a perfect match for me and he was 'sooo' cute. "Oh brother, another dead end first date..." is what I immediately thought. But, I played along and asked a few questions to see if I'd even like him.

Question 1-What's he do? He's military. Wrong Answer! But, he is in a special unit and doesn't deploy for a whole year. Hmm...
Question 2-Does he go to church? I think he used to back home, but he is a really great guy. I told him I had a christian girl to hook him up with. Oh, so they've already talked about me...interesting.
Question 3-When and where is the date? At their house, they're going to cook us dinner. One night this week. Ok, why not!

So, that 'one night' finally came, I got all pretty, and went out for this first date that I was sure would end to nowheresville like all the others.

Nervous as I don't know what, I warned Paulina that I was going to be mute and so shy that I wouldn't even talk. And it happened. I walked in the door and was first off trying to figure out who was who...all of a sudden my Brandon walked up and shook my hand and politely introduced himself, while complimenting my cream $25.00 pea coat! ;)

I immediately sized him up. Nope, don't like your skater/boat shoes, look at these muslces {gotta be cocky}, ugly car, and what is going on with that wave of hair?

We then went over to the table and sat as dinner was ready when we got there! Potatoes and green beans mixed together, with chicken, and wild rice. Water and wine to drink. Talk about fancy. I sat there in silence, only speaking when spoken to, and felt as awkward as ever. Why couldn't we have gone to a restaurant or something? Finally, Paulina busted me out and said, "Amanda, why are you so quiet!" I giggled, cheeks turned red and just shoved more food into my mouth.

When dinner was over Paulina and Brandon stepped outside and there I was alone on the couch with this, pretty cute stranger. He then began to dig into me, asking all kinds of questions. Where are you from? What do you do? Those kind of things...and then said, "So, are you always this quiet?" I replied, "No, I just get shy when I'm around people I don't know very well.." And then the mocking began! He said, "SHY!" {He pronounced: SHIII, very obnoxiousness-btw.}. Again I giggled and probably sounding even more country said, "I'm not that country!" And he mocked that too! After a little more chit chat the night ended with some wine and a few card games then I was off to get some shut eye for the next day of work.

We then made a few plans and nothing ever worked out. He was always the one ditching me. Now, let me tell you...it wasn't like, he left me at the restaurant waiting. More like a day or two in advance said something came up. So, with a few of those I was done. PEACE!

About 2 months later a friend of mine was deploying for Afghanistan for a year and had a going away celebration in Nashville. I grabbed a couple girlfriends, Paulina being one, and we headed to Nashville for a little fun! A few hours into the night, you will never believe who walked through the door. Brandon and Brandon. Ok, so 1 I don't go to Nashville very often. 2 Nashville is a big location..why did he come to this specific place? Then I thought, oh I'm sure Paulina was talking to Brandon and told him we were here. I found out later that wasn't the case. It was a little thing I like to call fate or better known as God himself! Brandon walked up to me and like a little girl, apologized for everything he had done. For all the times he wasn't able to hang out and all the stupid things he had done. He said, "I wanna kiss you, but we're in a bar." Attention ladies: Officially the worst pick up line ever. I was of course thinking, Um...? After a little chit chat the night ended, we split ways, and I was on my way back home with the girls.

Then he started texting me a bit...just random talk. He eventually shot straight to the point and asked me out. I was hesitant at first, but of course said yes. I mean, he's cute and has a lot going for him!

From then it was date after date. I remember one day him saying, "Dang, we've seen each other for four days straight, I think it's about time for me to start getting sick of you." And played the smart aleck comment off with a laugh. Two short weeks after we started dating, 'hanging out' I went over one afternoon after work to say goodbye, as he was deploying for three months. We played football in the street, watched a little TV, just killing time for the inevitable, and then it was time for him to go. I saw him in uniform for the first time this day. I never believed the whole, 'men look good in uniform' before, because in Clarksville you see uniforms everywhere. It's definitely different when it's a significant other! As we were saying goodbye, he asked me to be his girlfriend. Of course I said yes! We said goodbye on that special note and at that point I was in the 'deep end'. An area I never thought I would be in. Dating a soldier. On top of that, dating a soldier that was deployed...

From that day, April 20, 2010, my life has never been the same. I met my soul mate, my other half, and the person that I would spend the rest of my life with. I was scared to say yes to be his girlfriend, but it was one of the best decisions I've ever made! And now look, we've tied the knot!

Fairytales are real.
