DIY Project!

20 October 2011

Here's the DIY Project Blog I promised!

So, I have found and pinned plenty of things on my Pinterest boards. But, for me to actually do some of them makes me so excited! I love decorating and projects so DIY is right down my alley. I got a shelf to hang above our bed and made some things to go on top.

First I had the inspiration and idea from pinterest of fabric. I mean what better way to add some color and design to a room then something as simple as fabric! So first I {when I say I, I mean me and my mom} made this pillow, to put on our bed.

It's a no sew pillow tutorial, but I added the button,
so I had to sew it on ;)

Then I wanted to put the fabric somewhere else in the room. Again, I had seen many things covered in fabric. My initial plan was something a little bigger then this, but I couldn't find anything, so I stuck with this thin piece of wood that I got at Hobby Lobby and simply glued the fabric around it!

Hot Glue Gun + Fabric = BAM!

Then I knew that I needed something with a little 'height'. Brandon basically decorated our whole house, so I have gotten some tips from him. I wanted to have something 'live' too. So I got this plant thing, ended up having to cut it and then wrapped some twine around the bottom as it was bare.

Not sure if it's 'live', but it is tall!

Next I had a twine idea that I got from Fran. To take a block letter and wrap it in twine! It turned out so good and cheap! The letter was $1.00 at WalMart and the twine was $5.00. {I got the large bundle of twine.}

It even stands up. Loves, right?

And here is the finished product!

I have a few other things from my big DIY weekend that I am still working on and tweaking a bit, but tonight I plan to finish them! I also get to baby sit some pretty cute twins tonight. They were my ring bearer and ring girl if you remember. Gonna be a fun night! Tomorrow's Friday! Woo hoo! :)
