Catch up! + Recipe

28 February 2012

Time for lots of catching up!

This weekend...

I got to cuddle with my Jax on the couch. He is the best when it comes to cuddling.

This was Saturday morning when we got up to eat breakfast. Look at him. So precious and sleepy. He didn't want to get up!

After breakfast we decided to throw on some clothes and get our Walmart-ing done EARLY before all the crazy people got there. We stopped by Rite Aid to get 'tape' for my bandages, but really I came for this reason...

Behold- The Essie Wall.
Did you hear the angels singing too? ;)

I ended up getting a color I've been wanting for a while; Navy Blue! It's called 'Midnight Cami' It is the best color. And it's a one coat wonder, which is always a plus!

We had $20 Kohls cash so we went and bought this frame! How cute is it? We also got a neat picture to hang above our bathroom toilet in the guest bathroom. It's the last thing we needed, so that room is complete!

At Walmart we found this. Say whaaaaat? Yes. They are amazing!

Saturday afternoon we went over to mom and dads to hang out for the night. Here are the BFFs! They love each other :)

For dinner I whipped up a recipe my sister passed along from Pinterest. It was amazing!

Philly Cheese Steak Sloppy Joes

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound ground beef
1 softball-sized onion, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
2 tablespoons steak sauce
1 cup beef stock
Salt and ground black pepper
4 dinner rolls
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon flour
1 cup milk
1 cup provolone, shredded

Directions:
1. In large skillet over medium-high heat add the oil and then brown the ground beef, about 5-6 minutes. Add the onion and green pepper and cook another 3-4 minutes, until the vegetables start to get tender. Stir in the steak sauce and beef stock, season with salt and pepper, bring up to a bubble and cook about 2 minutes.

2. Split open rolls and remove most of the soft insides, leaving a bed to hold the meat mixture. Toast the rolls and set aside.

3. While the meat is cooking, melt the butter in a medium-size pot over medium-high heat. Stir in the flour and cook about 1 minute. Whisk in milk, bring up to a bubble and let thicken, about 2 minutes. Turn off heat and stir in the cheese.

4. To serve, place a scoopful of the meat mixture onto the bottom of the rolls, then top with the cheese sauce and replace the top of the roll.

I doubled the recipe, to feed everyone and it was so good! Enjoy! :)

For the rest of the evening we played games. We played Things and Battles of the Sexes. It's so fun and we had a great time! Well, the guys for sure did...
They are two of my favorite guys!

This is what happens when you spend the day with Grandpa :)

Sunday we got up and went to church. After church we had to run a few errands...

We ate lunch at Kroger. Ha, not 'at' Kroger, but we got lunch from Kroger. I got a chicken salad sandwich from the deli.

Brandon got the sushi that they have there now. He loves it!

Then we went to a birthday party at Chuck E Cheese for my cousins birthday party and my sweet grandparents were there! I sure do love them :)

I got to hang out with my niece Sammie! We did a practice run for her hair from prom. It's going to look awesome! I can't wait!!

And we played with the camwow! She loves this thing.

And I played with our other pic ;)

After the party we spent the day watching the rain delayed Daytona 500 and grilled outside because it was SO pretty! Gosh, I am totally loving this weather and do NOT want it to change back to winter! We had hamburgers and hot dogs off the grill. Yum! My grandparents stopped by and joined us for dinner as well. It was such a nice unexpected surprise!

For dessert we had Berry Medley Cheesecake! It was delicious!

So book catch up:

We are totally obsessed with The Hunger Games right now.

Brandon has been reading to me, like everyday because he too, is addicted!

Today my mom, sister, and I had book club. Don't hate! Great convo and now it is time to finish the book! Tonight we'll be starting Part 3, Chapter 19 and reading all the way through. I'm pumped and dying to find out what's going to happen!!!

I am also reading another book too! Hehe. I had to read something in between me waiting for bookclub. This is a great FREE book you can get off the Amazon. I'm only on Chapter 3, but so far so good!

Have you read any good books lately?

I am jealous that you all have a rite aide with a complete essie wall because here in cookeville we do not have one I guess I will have to drive that extra 30 min to come to where you live just so I can have a essie wall to look at then spend tons upon tons of money.Walmart birthday oreos are to die for amazing & so very yummy. I would love that berry medley recipe & I adore all the pictures :) I love that I get to see them on facebook too ;)
