Making Baby Decisions, One At A Time.

02 May 2013

Saturday after our Gender Reveal Party we were SO excited to finally get out and start buying a few things. We know not to go crazy, as we will have Baby Showers, etc. But we couldn't help but buy just a few things! Usually when we go into baby stores or walk through baby sections we just browse and look at everything, but now that we know that he is a he we can start looking at just the boy stuff and really start dreaming!

After the Gender Reveal we went out to dinner to Long Horn to celebrate our baby Bennett!

After dinner we walked outside to a complete monsoon. Later to find out it was the Clarksville Storm of the Century as we had a night full of 6 inches of rain and thunderstorms all through out the night. Needless to say, we went home for the evening and rescheduled our shopping trip for Sunday!

After church we went out and about looking at baby things. Once we found out that Bennett was a boy, it switched us from thinking all white furniture for the nursery, to deciding on chocolate brown. My plan before hand had been white furniture with gray and white as the color and then depending on boy or girl pick a 'pop' color  for the room. Well, we switched to brown furniture. And then I just couldn't picture my theme of white and gray looking well with brown at all. So, back to the drawing boards!

We went to Babies R Us first. I'm a very plain and simple girl and I'm just really not too fond of the bedding at Babies R Us. Because if you like giraffes...they make sure to put 200 on the sheet, 500 on the quilt, and 40 on the matching pillow. Some people may like that, but we don't. So, when  it came to thinking of nursery ideas we couldn't start there.

We left the bedding area and headed to the clothes! We searched around in the boys area for newborn outfits. Holy smokes. Melting heart, major cuteness, oh my goodness. Of course, yes, I have seen it all before, but this is for OUR baby! What have we gotten our selves into?! I will tell you... an empty bank account if we're not careful! I immediately texted my sister and told her to come drag me out of the store before it was too late. ;)

After walking around the clothes area for 15 minutes I looked down into my hand to realize we had one thing. This little footed sleeper. It has a dog on it and says, 'My Puppy Rules'.
When we saw this we booked looked at each other with big eyes, smiled and said, 'That looks like Trigger, we have to get it!' Of course we only picked out one thing and it had to do with the dog! Haha

We then decided we wanted to get another little set of onsies. We found these. Eek! They are so precious! When we picked these up Brandon said, 'Is this how small he is going to be?' Oh yes!!!

Then we came across our nursery inspiration. On bibs. The day we decided to start trying to start a family we found a sweet little porcelain elephant and knew that would be the theme of the nursery whether boy or girl. At this point all we had to do was pick out colors. So, we stumbled across these bibs.. and knew that this would be perfect! We get to keep our gray and white and we're adding a touch of sweet baby boy blue!

Once we finally decided on a color scheme for the nursery we headed to lowes to pick out some paint. We haven't painted in our house yet, so this is a special memory for us! Oh my paint samples...there are so many. After starring at all the colors and going completely cross eyed, we took a deep breath, and picked a color!

Two actually! Baby blue and a pale gray. So exciting!!
