We started our Memorial Day Weekend Saturday morning by joining an event at our local Crossfit Box participating in the Memorial Day Murph. I've heard of the Murph a few times since I started doing crossfit, but definitely didn't realize how big of a deal it was! The Murph is dedicated to a guy named Michael Murph that was in a special operations unit and died in 2005 in Afghanistan. Last minute I decided to drag Fran along with me and we teamed up and split the Murph in half. This was the WOD:
1 Mile Run
100 Pullups
200 Pushups
300 Air Squats
1 Mile Run
(Wear a weighted vest if possible)
Fran and I split it up and did the 1 mile run together then did 10 rounds of 5, 10, 15 and then ran the last mile together. We did each rep and each set together and it was so awesome to have each other to push each other through! We got done in 42 minutes. Not bad considering I'm 6 months pregnant and Fran has only been doing Crossfit a month. :) Can't wait to do it again next year though! I will be back in full force!!
Here are some pics from the event:
Brandon and I before.
While we were waiting to get started we got to write names of the fallen that we were honoring during the WOD. A guy I went to school with lost his life last year in Afghanistan. Grateful to push through the work out honoring him. He was a great friend and we had went to school together for a long time!
Mine and Fran's WOD board. I guess Fran wrote the smiley face to keep us motivated. Ha! ;)
A picture they snapped of Brandon during the workout! Brandon did the workout with his 40lb vest on the whole time! He did so awesome! Did the entire thing in 45 minutes, with no partner.
Proud of my muscle man. ;)
After! All sweaty and done!
Fran and I after. Stole this pic from her. So fun!!!
Over Memorial Day weekend we also..... bought a boat!
A few weekends ago Brandon and I started talking about buying a boat. Putting in a pool at our house isn't an option, and unfortunately we don't have open access to a pool or boat to hop on whenever we want. So, we sat down and really started considering a boat. I refuse to keep spending summer weekends at home on the couch because there's nothing for us to do and keep missing the beautiful days. Well a week later, a friend of mine posted that their boat was for sale! Ding, ding, ding! It was perfect for us!! Grateful that God provided this fun outlet for us! It's a little Sea-Doo jet boat! Little older, super low miles, and exactly what our little family needs.
I don't exactly fit last years bikini's so I had to run out and get some new ones for the summer. Found the perfect ones! Pink neon one and a cheetah print one!
Getting ready to take it out for the day!
{Yes, I know. Classy Walmart shot.}
One thing that really sold me on this boat was the option of lifting the canopy. It will be perfect next year for Bennett. He can come with us and be able to hang out under the cool shade for nap time!
Boat fun with my man! :)
Good for you killin' it during the Murph! I'm jealous of your boat! I think that needs to be our next move, too!
