Virginia Beach Vacation

25 August 2013

The weekend of July 4th, Brandon and I took an extra long weekend to head to Virginia Beach to visit his family and get some quality vaca time in before little man gets here!

3:30am alarm clock came SUPER early when we headed to the airport. Dad was nice enough to wake up early too to take us! :)

Beach ready with my boy!

During our layover MR. pregnancy sympathy grabbed us some donuts. I didn't really complain... we're on vacation!

While we were there we got tons of beach time! The beach there is beautiful and there is nothing like sticking your toes in the sand. I also finally got to see my man surf for the first time! Didn't get any pictures, because I was out swimming in the ocean. But it was pretty cool. ;)

Bennett's first trip to the beach.

Brought my sweet tarts everywhere. For Bennett.

This shifty little crab was so fun! It's crazy how they can move from side to side and front to back. And his eyes were so funny to see!

We ate lots of yummy food! And that's all because Brandon knew where all the good stuff was!

Mary's Diner

Citrus-A breakfast and lunch place.

Captain George's! I've been hearing about this place since we first got together. It's a HUGE seafood buffet. It was delicious and the crab legs were awesome!

This picture was sent specially for my dad. Dad's loves crab legs.

I had Tropical Smoothie for the first time. I wish we had one! They have so many different types of smoothies and you can even get protein put in them. Genius! And they have healthier meal options as well. We ate there a few times for a quick lunch.

Had some awesome food at Brandon's Aunt Terri's house.

With eating lots of food means we had to fit in WOD time. We went to a playground for one of the WOD's. That was fun!

We went to Crossfit Takeover another day to WOD during their open gym.

One morning we went and walked the boardwalk at The Oceanfront before it was too miserably hot. Got a shaved ice and I felt like a kid.

A fact about the Forbes that you may not know, is that we are Blizzard finatics. It's one of our favorite 'treats' when we treat our self. Although we didn't get a blizzard at this Dairy Queen, I thought it was pretty awesome that it was right beside the ocean. Wish ours was!

On the Fourth of July we had a cookout at Aunt Terri's house with the family and did some swimming. Last that night we got ready and headed to The Ocean Front to watch the fireworks on the beach. That is definitely something I had on my bucket list. I've always thought of how cool it would be to watch fireworks from the beach.

To kill time we got some gelato! Yum!

It was soooooooooo windy that night!

Watching the fireworks with the hubs!

One of my favorite memories of Virginia Beach is when Brandon took me on a date to the boardwalk. Since we stayed with his Aunt in town and not 'on' the beach, I got to see the civilian side of Virginia and not so much the tourist side that I'm used to on vacations.

For dinner he took me to Catch 31. It was awesome! One of those fancy restaurants on the beach. Good stuff! Brandon got the catch of the day which was sword fish. I got crab cakes with roasted veggies and red potatoes. Those crab cakes were amazing! And for an appetizer we had coconut shrimp. Blew me away.

After dinner we walked up and down the strip to check out all the shops. We went to Forbes Candies which is where I get all my yummy salt water taffy. They have the BEST taffy. If you want Salt Water Taffy, order from them!

And we tried chocolate covered bacon. It's not as 'amazing' as everyone talks it up to be, but it was pretty tasty!

And we had Ben & Jerry's. I've never been to a real Ben & Jerry's before. Mr. Piggy ordered me the huge cone, I definitely couldn't finish it all. It was so yummy!

Even though the vacation seemed like it was over so fast, when we thought about home and how much we missed our boys it was like we were gone forever! We were so excited to be back snuggled up with them!
